Changes to my study programme

I’m currently studying a degree of Visual Arts at the University of Chile, specifically at the Juan Gomez Millas Campus. I think that in general the curriculum is nice, I had the opportunity to learn about painting, sculpture techniques, photography, drawing and some more concepts related to artistic production. However it is usual that because of the large number of subjects and the length of it, the work at the end of the semester isn't entirely satisfactory… There is usually an excess of work and lack of time, especially for those who live far from the campus and spend time traveling. I would say that the building is OK… the biggest problem that it has is that in winter it floods because of rain and cannot be used, but at least there's space to work and we have a really beautiful garden, or more like a forest, with birds singing around and the sunlight through the foliage of the trees. Anyway, It would be really great if the faculty had a place to print and a place to get ma...

Time travel to the future

Imagen
The future does not seem to be very cozy, at least not the near future, so I definitely prefer to stay in the present, but if for some reason I should have to travel in time ahead, I would  choose the moment when the development of Artificial Intelligence reaches the "strong" phase. This is the moment when a machine with an Artificial Intelligence software is practically indistinguishable from a human being. That sounds a bit scary for most people and quite challenging for the people who work on it, like a matter for the far future, but the truth is that the scientists have estimated that this technology will appear approximately in the year 2045... that's around the corner!! Honestly if in this hypothetical future I had a time machine and the possibility of returning to the past (the actual present) I wouldn't do it, I would keep traveling to the future until I see the end of times... that would be such a sublime experience!

My dream job

Imagen
I have always disliked working for a salary. I think that simply is not for me, even when I had to work for a salary many times in the past and I should probably do it soon again... actually the concept of work itself seems suspicious to me. Anyway, for years my dream job has been being a film director, but not a sort of Hollywood director with his big and expensive production. I would like to work as an independent film director, making movies about the simple things of life, the beauty of the day-to-day. It would be very pleasing to travel around the world making documentary films about different cultures and their own ways of life too, like an ethnologist, or make fictional movies with few actors about insignificant mundane stories. The true is that they probably wouldn't be very popular movies, and the money I would get for it wouldn't be too much either, but I do not care about it at all because clearly half part of the work consist in resisting those precarious conditions...

The best concert

Imagen
During my life I have attended many gigs, but very few concerts; actually I have attended only two concerts in all my life. The last one, my favourite, was in 2018 at Matucana 100. The German free-jazz saxophonist, Peter Brötzmann, came to Chile to perform with his band and I really wanted to see him playing, but I couldn't afford the ticket. Fortunately a very lucky friend participated in a contest and the night before the concert he told me that he won a double-ticket! Then he gave me one of the tickets and we went to the concert for free.  This concert was a truly life-changing experience. Peter Brötzmann and his band improvised a very noisy jazz for about two hours, with some drum and bass solos, and, of course, several wild saxophone solos in which Peter screamed through his instrument. It's very impressive that at the time Brötzmann was 78 years old and had such lung capacity to play the sax for so much time. It was an unforgettable night.

The country I would like to visit

Imagen
These days I've seen myself dreaming about mediterranean beaches, marble sculptures, ruins, pizzas, and very big churches... Italy! This european country is a very nice destination for a holiday. There's a lot of cities with beautiful attractions; you can go to Venice, for example, and take a romantic tour over a boat through the canals, or if you prefer you can go to the Ancient Greek Ruins in Sicilia, but I definitely would like to go to Rome, the capital city of the Ancient Roman Empire, now with its magnificent ruins such as the Roman Colisseum, stunning fountains in every corner, and the Pantheon, an enchanting and mystical temple located at the centre of the city. Then I would like to go to Florence, the city of the Renaissance; I'd take a tour around the museums to see the majestic works of Giotto, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and more medieval and renaissance artists. A travel to Italy would be the travel of my dreams.
